Sick, sick, sick

It all started Sunday morning when I woke up with a bad cough. It persisted the entire day and through the night. I went to work Monday and what a mistake. I could hardly move! My body ached and my skin was super sensitive to the touch. It was apparent that I couldn't teach and so the students were treated to a movie afternoon! When I got home I took my temp and it was 39! On Tuesday I only worked half a day and then went to the doc. She said that I have a sort of flu (not the stomach kind). Weird! I was feeling better Wednesday morning but by the afternoon the fever was back!
Today is Thursday and my school board has shut down all schools due to safety. It is raining today and because there is already so much snow on the roofs, they are afraid that the rain will make it heavier and cause the roofs to cave in. Thank god for little miracles! I can rest until next Wednesday (off because of Easter!!!)
Have a great Easter everone :) Hope you are all feeling better than moi!

Snow Storm!

Wow! I'm pretty lucky to be alive! I went to Burington this weekend to do a little shopping. We left Friday night and got to Vermont in the evening. After a little stop at the Church street mall and some supper at my favourite restaurant Sweetwaters we went to do some groceries at the Price Chopper. The following morning is when the storm began! We woke up to some wet snow and rain...nothing bad we all thought! We proceeded with our shopping and at around lunch time the weather started to turn into freezing rain. We decided to have a bite to eat and head back a little early. Well let me tell you, we were driving home in what possibly might have been the worst storm in Montreal history! It started with freezing rain that caused our wipers to freeze every 10 minutes. We couldn't see out of the windshield. As we got closer to Montreal, the winds picked up and caused white out conditions. We couldn't even see the car 3 feet in front of us ( I am not even exaggerating)!!! I saw about 5-6 cars in ditches, the car in front of us did a 360 and almost caused us to crash into them. Then we hit the Champlain bridge...there were cars stopped on the bridge and people trying to shovel themselves out...ON THE BRIDGE!!! Passengers were hanging out of cars trying to remove the ice accumulation while the cars were still moving! We saw not even one plow on our 4 1/2 hour drive home! Once we made it back to the west island there was so much snow on the street that even my friends Jeep Cherokee got stuck! If we had been driving in a regular car I don't think I would be alive to tell this story! I'm not kidding when I say it was the scariest drive of my life!

On the bright side...at least I did some good shopping :)

The best artichoke dip ever!!!

Friday night after supper...all smiles!

A look out our window while we were driving!

Spring Break 2008

Well, after a 7 month absence I thought it would be a good idea to start posting again! I am currently on Spring break and can't use the excuse of not having enough time!
I've taken up a new hobbie...baking! I can't stop myself! My favourite recipe so far is date squares! I never thought I would enjoy them so much, but they taste like melasses, yum yum!

Unfortunately for me I will not be travelling anywhere this March :( My spring break will be spent here with friends and the abundance of snow (we will be getting another 15 cm. on Wednesday). I really am living in a winter wonderland! It's beautiful and I am not going to complain because it can always get worse!

'Till next time! Cheers!
